Jim Pottinger, Area Director
Jim Pottinger began his career at Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago in 1988 as a part-time employee while attending college at Northeastern University. In fact, his Boys & Girls Clubs experience had such a tremendous impact on him that he joined Boys & Girls Clubs after earnings his bachelor’s degree and completing his elementary education requisites instead of becoming a teacher.
Jim spent the first five years of his career at the Lathrop Club. He was then promoted to Program Director at the Logan Square Club. In 1998, he became the first Program Director of the newly established James R. Jordan Boys & Girls Club and Chicago Bulls Family Life Center. In 2001, he returned to the Lathrop Club (now named the Daniel A. Cotter Club) where his career began.
Jim joined the Valentine Club in 2014 and serves as Area Director to the Louis L. Valentine and Morgan Park Clubs. He oversees budget and programs, conducts program evaluations and analysis of member needs and interests, and supports the Club’s Board of Managers in fundraising efforts.
