Valentine Club Awarded Chicago Sun Shine Project Grant

The Louis L. Valentine Club was awarded a $10,000
Sun Shine Project grant funded by the Chicago Sun-Times Charity Trust. The funds will support the Club's popular and dynamic art and drama programs.
The Chicago Sun-Times Charity Trust awards grants to charities in the Chicago region that support youth in education, art and civic engagement. This year, the Trust established the
Sun Shine Project for the greater Chicago community to "shine a light" on worthy charities and select organizations and projects that deserve a grant. Members of the community could nominate any local charity. All nominations were then posted on the Sun Shine Project web site for community voting and comments. The Trust, taking into account the number of community votes and the quality of comments posted for each charity nominated on the site, then selected charities throughout the Chicago-area to receive grants that totaled up to $500,000.
"Thank you to all of Valentine's dedicated supporters who voted and made this grant possible," said Valentine Club Director Erin Rochford. "Our youth are very excited for this amazing opportunity to expand this program."
